“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.” Ps. 95
Old North has maintained a tradition of excellent music in ministry. Our philosophy has always been to give our best gift to God no matter what style of anthem, solo, or instrumental piece. On any given Sunday, music from a variety of styles and times will flow through our congregation. Everyone has a song to sing, a tune to play, and a praise to raise.
Our music ministry also continues to reach out to the community through combined concerts with other local churches, and the Choral Music Program of the University of Southern Indiana. Our Chancel Choir is open to those who have an interest in music and enjoy sharing their gifts in song. We are made up of people from all walks of life who join together to create beautiful music. If you enjoy singing or playing an instrument we have a place for you in our musical family.
The Chancel Choir is open to all who love to sing and share their faith with music. This group is intergenerational and encourages diversity in its musical offerings. We love to sing most every style. From chant to contemporary, American folk, gospel, and international styles, we endeavor to keep our congregation guessing what music will come next. Every anthem is offered up to God in praise and is directly connected to the scripture of the day.
We also love to combine with other local church choirs, and the choirs from the University of Southern Indiana to provide large works for our services and concerts for the Evansville and Tri-State area.
Rehearsals are full of great music, fellowship, prayer, and thanksgiving. No auditions are required. Those interested in singing and sharing their faith through music are welcomed.
Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings beginning at 7:00pm starting late August and ending the first week of June. The Chancel Choir offers music during the 9:30 am Sunday Worship time and for special services throughout the year.
There are also many opportunities for volunteers to sing in small groups or provide solos for our church services.
